What is Title I?
Title I is one of the nation's oldest and largest federal programs supporting elementary and secondary education. More than 90 percent of the school systems in the United States receive some sort of Title I funding. Each district uses its Title I money to supplement and improve regular education programs offered to help students meet state standards. The money for this program does NOT come out of the Nordonia Hills School District's budget. It is 100% funded through the federal government.
How does my child qualify?
An eligibility form is completed for each student by their classroom teacher based on reading score, whether or not your child was retained, as well as a general checklist about their reading skills. The students are then ranked by score (highest to lowest) and placed in the Title I program based on availability.
